Jesus loves the Little Children -why we baptise children.

By Daniel R.Hyde

Why do we baptise children?  Pastor D. Hyde from Oceanside United Reformed Church, Carlsbad, CA, has written a concise, easily readable, explanation of this covenantal doctrine, in particular, showing how circumcision and baptism are intimately linked .  He makes use of historical records and reformed confessions from various sources, but above all, he uses the complete picture of scripture of the covenant relationship of God with His people .   Various questions that have arisen over the centuries regarding baptism, such as the method, (i.e. sprinkling or pouring or dunking),  and, who may be baptised etc. are examined.   This publication would be valuable for all of us who want to reaffirm their understanding of the covenantal connection and for those who have had or plan to have, their children baptised.  The words we hear in the form for Baptism of Infants are given new impetus to fulfil our vows that we solemnly make as parents and as the congregation of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
