Our Doctrine

With the Church of Jesus Christ of all times and places we are united in the one true Christian faith. This faith is firmly based on the Word of God, the Bible. Throughout the Church’s history, however, it has been found necessary to defend and promote the truth of God’s Word through creeds and confessions. Along with nearly all Christian churches we willingly receive the creeds that have come to us from the first centuries of the early Church; the Apostles Creed, Nicene Creed and Athanasian Creed.

About The
Free Reformed Federation

The Free Reformed Churches of Australia is a federation of 17 congregations, 15 in Western Australia and two in Tasmania, with over 4000 members. Our historical roots are in the Reformed Churches of the Netherlands (Liberated) as a result of post-World War II immigration, and our doctrinal roots are in the sixteenth century Protestant Reformation and the Bible. The churches subscribe to the Three Forms of Unity: Canons of Dort, Belgic Confession and the Heidelberg Catechism. The churches submit to the following three creeds as summaries of the faith: The Apostles Creed, The Nicene Creed, and The Athanasian Creed.

FAQs

We warmly welcome anyone to come and attend our worship services and meet our church members. Upon arrival you will be greeted by our ushering team, who will assist you to find seating and ensure you have everything you need.

Our services are centred on the gospel of Jesus Christ. We listen to the Law of God in the 10 Commandments, sing Psalms and Hymns, speak to God in prayer, read from the Bible and listen to it explained to us through preaching.

Anything that is comfortable while at the same time respecting others and showing honour to God. Our members wear anything from neat casual clothing to business and formal attire.

Nothing! We will provide you with everything you need, including a Bible and Book of Praise (a PDF version can be purchased on our website). You may, of course, bring your own Bible if you prefer. We use the New King James Version.

We recommend arriving 10-15 minutes before the service. Our worship services are held every Sunday at 9.30am and 3.30pm.

We have our own carpark on our premises, so you are welcome to park in any open space when you arrive. Please be mindful of the normal signage for disabled and elderly spaces.

The Pastor and other members of the church council will walk in. When the Pastor walks up to the pulpit, the congregation will stand. The Pastor will welcome all with a biblical greeting from God. The congregation responds by singing a psalm/hymn of praise and is then seated.

The law of God is read out to remind us of our sinfulness and need for the saving work of Jesus Christ. Following more singing, the minister will lead the congregation in a prayer to God, after which we read passages from the Bible.

The core of the worship service is the sermon, in which the message of Scripture and its practical application is explained. After this, the congregation engages in more singing and prayer before concluding the service.

We consider you a guest and we don’t expect you to give. Our members give voluntarily during the service to support God’s kingdom work.

Our services usually last just over an hour.

After each service, members gather outside to socialise. If you haven’t already been approached by a member, our ushers will come find you and happily answer any questions you may have. We also have a host family so if you would like to meet other members of our church you are welcome to go to this family’s house for refreshments and socialising.

Your children can attend church with you. We do provide crèche facilities for young children if you require.

Yes. There are also disabled parking bays close to the entrance of the building.

We encourage everyone to come to church as that is our calling to be part of the communion of saints, however if you are physically unable to attend we do live-stream. To live-stream a service, all you have to do is click the link in this website during the service.
